#2 / Katerholzig [*CLOSED]
Big Amusem*nt Park for AdultsFrom the previous owners of Bar 25, Katerholzig is a big amusem*nt park for adults. In a huge abandoned soap factory perfectly located by the Spree, you’ll find loads of dancefloors, a huge outside area with amazing lighting and you’ll really feel like part of the city clubbing scene. As in almost every club in town, they don’t mess with the quality of the sound. Most of the DJ’s you’ll see playing there are associated to Katerholzig’s record label Katermukke. You’ve probably heard a few names who are produced by them such as Sven Dhose, Dirty Doering, Sascha Cowa and Britta Arnold. Make sure to check their SoundCloud so you can find out if it’s your kind of music. Also their public is really diverse and that’s what makes clubbing at Kater so fun. It’s a crowd of interesting, good looking and nice people, who are usually ready to dance and have a nice chat with you. Don’t forget to take a picture in their Photo Automat and also to appreciate the view of Robert Montgomery’s installation on the other side of the river. You’ll feel your heart getting warmer while reading his quote: “The city is wilder than you think and kinder than you think. It is a valley and you are a horse in it. It is a house and you are a child in it safe and warm here in the fire of each other.”
Best Clubbing Times: Thursday night and Sunday after 6pm.
Door Policy: You’ll probably have a hard time trying to get into Kater, if you don’t bring someone that speaks German. They’re not huge fans of foreigners, so be as Berliner as you can. In other words, make sure to act like a true hipster: put some glitter on, hold your Club Matte bottle with confidence and wear colorful (vintage, of course) clothes. [* Katerholzig is now CLOSED]
