¿Sabes usar los conectores en inglés?
Es un tema un poco más grande de lo habitual…
Hoy os traigo uno de esos artículos para guardar en vuestra sección de favoritos porque os va a ser de gran utilidad a la hora de escribir y entender la lectura.
Vamos a hablar de los conectores en inglés y para ello he elaborado una gran lista con la clasificación de los conectores y ejemplos para todos ellos.
Además, os he preparado un PDF descargable para que podáis imprimir éste listado tan útil o simplemente guardarlo y tenerlo a mano en cualquier momento que necesitéis consultarlo.

Primero hablemos un poco de conectores….
¿Qué son los conectores en inglés y por qué son tan importantes?
Los conectores son una herramienta que sirve para enlazar o conectar conceptos e ideas de una manera estructurada.
El inglés no es el único idioma en el que se utilizan conectores. De hecho, se usan en todos los idiomas ya que sirven a dar sentido a nuestros planteamientos y aportan gran variedad y fluidez a la hora de hablar y escribir.
Aprender los conectores nos va a permitir conseguir un nivel más avanzado de inglés escrito, por ejemplo, a la hora escribir un email formal, y por supuesto a la hora de expresarnos al hablar.
Y ahora que sabemos por qué es tan importante conocer los conectores en inglés… ¡podemos ponernos manos a la obra!

Tipos de conectores en inglés y cómo usarlos
Existen cientos de conectores que cuentan con diferentes propósito dependiendo el uso de los mismos. Por eso, y como podéis ver en la siguiente imagen, he seleccionado los más importantes y a su vez los he clasificado en diferentes grupos.

Ahora sí, veamos las diferentes categorías de conectores en inglés con su correspondiente significado y ejemplo para cada uno de ellos.
¿Preparados?
1. Conectores para enlazar ideas
Estos conectores sirven para juntar o enlazar las ideas en tus frases. Algunos son bastante formales, y los verás más por escrito.

| not only … but also | no solo … sino también | She eats not only veggies, but also fish. |
| not only … but as well | no solo…sino también | Not only was the theatre crowded, but I arrived late as well. |
| moreover | además | Julie is beautiful; moreover, she is really nice! |
| besides | además | Besides, he doesn’t like animals. |
2. Conectores para explicar la causa o la razón de algo
Ya que estamos aquí, debería mencionar que muchos conectores también tienen otros significados. Las palabras aquí de for y since, por ejemplo, tienen más usos. Véase el artículo de for, since y ago, por ejemplo, o el otro sobre las preposiciones to y for.

| thanks to | gracias a | I passed the exam thanks to your lessons. |
3. Conectores de comparación
Estos conectores se usan para comparar entre dos cosas. Tengo mucho más sobre las estructuras del tipo as beautiful as en los artículos sobre el comparativo de igualdad. Y también bastante sobre las palabras like y as.

| than | que | I am stronger than you. |
| as | como | I did it exactly the same way as you told me. |
| as … as | tan….como | She is as beautiful as her mother. |
| as if | como si | She is behaving as if she were a superstar. |
| like | como | Your daughter looks just like you! |
4. Conectores para concluir o resumir
Cuando estás terminando de escribir una redacción formal, tendrás que hacer una conclusión. Estas expresiones se usan para decir que has llegado al final, y que ahora vas a resumir lo que has dicho antes.

| in brief | en resumen | In brief, he broke up with me and I don’t want to talk about it. |
| on the whole | en general | On the whole, you’ve done a really good job. |
| hence | de ahí | Hence the difficulty in finding a job nowadays. |
5. Conectores ara expresar continuidad
Estos conectores expresan continuidad o se usan para dar más información, agregar algo, etc.

| additionally | así mismo, además | I love classic music, and additionally, playing the piano. |
| furthermore | por otra parte, además | I don’t want to cook, furthermore, I don’t have time. |
| as well as | además de | You are invited, as well as your girlfriend. |
| moreover | además | It’s beautiful. Moreover, it’s cheap. |
| besides | además | It’s too late to go out. Besides, I’m tired. |
| what is more | además, es más | Your behaviour was not appropriate. What’s more, it was really rude. |
6. Conectores en inglés para expresar contraste
Si quieres expresar el contraste entre dos ideas, puedes usar uno de estos conectores.

| in spite of | a pesar de | In spite of her behaviour, I forgave her. |

| on the one hand … on the other hand | por un lado…por otro lado | On the one hand I want to call her, on the other hand I think it would be a mistake. |
| while | mientras que | While I’m glad we went to the concert, I wish it wouldn’t have spent so much money in the ticket. |
| on the contrary | de lo contrario | It doesn’t seem ugly to me;on the contrary, I think it’s rather beautiful. |
| in comparison | en comparación | My house is very small in comparison to yours. |
7. Conectores para dar opciones o alternativas
Aquí tienes varios conectores que puedes usar para dar más opciones o alternativas. Tengo mucho más sobre either y neither en otro artículo.

8. Conectores para describir secuencias o procesos
Estos conectores se usan para describir la secuencia de algo. Primero, luego, después, al final y cosas así.

| eventually | finalmente | She eventually passed the exam! |
| at last | por fin | At last the quarantine is over. |
| at the end | al final, finalmente | At the end, they have changed the restrictions. |
9. Conectores para expresar énfasis
Existen muchas formas de dar énfasis en inglés. Por ejemplo, con los auxiliares do, does y did en unas frases. Pero también con conectores en otras ocasiones.

| obviously | obviamente | Obviously she was drank after finishing the whole bottle. |
| above all | sobre todo | Above all, we need to finish this project. |
| actually | de hecho | I’ve actually been there before. |
| indeed | es más | The movie was indeed very interesting. |
10. Conectores en inglés para expresar certeza
Obviamente puedes usar conectores como “obviously” para expresar certeza. Sin duda darás una buena impresión si usas estas expresiones al escribir.

| certainly | sin duda, ciertamente | I will certainly help you. |
11. Conectores para dar ejemplos
Existen muchos conectores que se usan para dar ejemplos, como por ejemplo, “for example”. ¿Ves lo que estoy haciendo aquí?

12.Conectores para generalizar.
