ID Requirements & Piercing Age Restrictions (2024)

ID Requirements for Adults

Clients who are at least 18 years or older must provide their ID for any service from our piercers, including removing or changing jewelry. We need your ID every time you request any procedure, even if you have shown it on a prior occasion. For our documentation, we must have valid, non-expired, government-issued photo ID. It must be the original; photocopies are not valid, unless the copy is notarized as being true to the original.

If you have any questions about acceptable IDs, please give us a call before you make the trip. We don’t like turning away clients, so we’ll do our best to work with what you have to help you meet our ID requirements. ID Requirements for Minors

[ID requirements for earlobe piercings for children 8 to 12 years old is outlined following this section.]

For any piercing or jewelry insertion service for a minor, the minor will need a valid (non-expired) government-issued document that shows their date of birth as well as a photo ID. In addition, we will need a valid (non-expired) photo ID from the parent or legal guardian that proves they have legal responsibility for the minor. The minor’s and parent’s documentation must have matching last names and addresses. If the last names and/or addresses do not match, or if there is no address on one or both of the IDs, we will need the minor's original birth certificateto prove their relation to one another. If the adult accompanying the minor is not the parent but is the legal guardian, we will need additional guardianship paperwork as well.

Most importantly, all documents must be original or notarized copies of the original.

The easiest way to prove a minor’s age and relationship to their parent/guardian is with the following:

Minor HasParent/Guardian Has
Driver's License or State-issued photo ID (must include an address)Driver’s License, State, or Federal ID with the same last name and address that appears on minor’s ID.
Driver's Permit plus photo School/Work ID(same as above)
School or Work photo ID with Birth CertificateDriver’s License, State, or Federal ID with the same last name that appears on minor’s ID and Birth Certificate.*

Passport or Military ID with Birth Certificate

(same as above)

*If the name on the parent’s ID has changed since the birth certificate was issued, a marriage license or change-of-name formmust also be presented.

If you are not the parent but are the legal guardian of the child, we will need official, original paperwork showing that you have legal responsibility for them.

We realize this can be confusing, so if you have any questions about ID requirements please don’t hesitate to give us a call before you make the trip.

ID Requirements for Kids Earlobe Piercings

For earlobe piercings on children ages 8 to 12 years old, an appointment is required. See the link after ID information to book an appointment.

We realize most children under 13 years of age don’t have photo identification. If your child has a photo ID, such as a school ID or passport, simply follow the instructions above. If your child does not have a photo ID, you will need to bring in their original birth certificate (or a notarized copy of the original). From the parentwe will need a valid, non-expired, government-issued photo ID. If the name that appears on the parent's ID has changed since the birth certificate or guardianship paperwork was issued, a marriage license or change-of-name form must also be presented.

If you are not the parent but are the legal guardian of the child, we will needofficial, original paperwork showing that you have legal responsibility for them.

We realize this can be a lot for an ear piercing. Please understand that, for your child’s safety, we need to establish the person coming in is either a parent or legal guardian and can make legal decisions on behalf of the child. If you have any questions about ID requirements, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
