Are degrees from ITT Tech valid? ›

ITT Tech is accredited at the institutional level by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

On February 26, 2014, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) sued ITT. The CFPB alleged ITT used high-pressure tactics to coerce students into obtaining high-interest private loans that were likely to end in default.

On Sept. 16, 2016, ITT filed a Voluntary Petition for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana and subsequently ceased all company operations.

The School of Business offers a wide range of degrees from associates in accounting and administration to bachelor's degrees in management, marketing, and accounting to a master's degree in business administration.

In 2014, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) sued ITT because they “pressured [their] students into taking out high-cost private loans even though ITT knew most of its students would ultimately default.”⁴ This resulted in $498 million in private student loans being cancelled.

At the time of its closure, ITT had 35,000 students and 8,000 employees across 137 campuses. Since then, former students such as Tasha Berkhalter have been fighting for debt relief. Berkhalter enrolled at ITT Tech in 2006 after leaving the Army to pursue a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
