Why does it keep saying page not found? ›

Error 404 not found is one of the most common issues you may encounter while browsing. This HTTP status code means the requested page can't be found on the website server. It may indicate a flaw with a hosting service or your domain name system (DNS) configuration settings.

The 'Site Not Found' error means the IP address your domain is using is not pointed to the correct IP. More technically, the 'Site Not Found' error means that the DNS records for your domain are resolving to the IP address of an Apache web server service that is not configured for your domain.

The HTTP 404 Not Found response status code indicates that the server cannot find the requested resource. Links that lead to a 404 page are often called broken or dead links and can be subject to link rot. A 404 status code only indicates that the resource is missing: not whether the absence is temporary or permanent.

They are named very similarly, and both can profoundly hurt your SEO but have entirely different causes: In the case of “Not found (404)”, Google cannot index your page because it responds with a 404 HTTP response code as its content doesn't exist, In the case of “Soft 404”, Google is confused by your page.

Start by identifying and investigating 404 URLs in Search Console's crawl errors report. Redirect or update each URL based on why it's erroring. Leverage Search Console tools to mark fixed pages and request indexing of changes. Lastly, implement 404 prevention, so the errors don't creep up again.

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 404 (Not Found) can be used instead.
