Inspection Requirements
Generally, only one roof inspection is required on a single-family dwelling roof. This should be an in-progress inspection with the roofing materials being installed. The spark arrester must be in place.
Following this inspection, the inspector will sign off the job card. Make sure an inspection approval is obtained. Failure to obtain inspection approval may result in permit expiration necessitating permit renewal. Permit renewal fees would then need to be paid.
Roofing Fire Classification
All new roofs in Daly City require a Fire Classification of B or better (DCMC 15.10.240).
Roof assemblies shall be divided into Class A, B, and C roof assemblies and roof coverings.

Class A roof assemblies are those that are effective against severe fire test exposure. Class A roof assemblies and roof coverings shall be listed and identified as Class A by an approved testing agency. Class A roof assemblies shall be permitted for use in buildings or structures of all types of construction.
Class Broof assemblies are those that are effective against moderate fire-test exposure. Class B roof assemblies and roof coverings shall be listed and identified as Class B by an approved testing agency.
Class Croof assemblies are those that are effective against light fire-test exposure. Class C roof assemblies and roof coverings shall be listed and identified as Class C by an approved testing agency. Class C roof assemblies are not permitted in Daly City.
