Why do you choose SAP Consulting as a career?

An education is not inherited. You earn it with your dedication and hard work.

I have spoken to my network about why they picked working on SAP as a career and here are the common reasons that I hear from most of them

Solving Business Problems:

  • Companies look to SAP consultants to help in solving problems and meeting organizational objectives.

Challenging Work :

  • A SAP consultant needs to have strong SAP technical and functional expertise and problem solving skills.
  • By honing these skills early in their careers, the SAP consultant will be better prepared for the day when they have to make critical decisions for an organization.
  • Some examples are :
  1. M&A (acquisition of another company)
  2. Global Solutions (like a solution for centralized sourcing or a solution for capital procurement)
  3. Improving Business Processes
  4. Resolving Business Problems

Learning Business as you learn ERP:

  • Working on business processes within SAP is a great way to learn about business.
  • Doesn't matter which industry you work in, or work with a consulting and software development company, you get a close-up look at how an organization operates and what takes to be a successful consultant.

Interesting Profession:

  • You get to analyze, design and implement automated solutions for the organization.
  • You spend a good part of your time working with key business users and work on defining business process, analysis, design, implementation, presenting a solution, as well as preparing and delivering user training.
  • In a consulting firm, the SAP consultant may be involved in pre and post project promotional activities, such as presentations to prospect clients, and preparations of proposals.

Transferable skills:

  • SAP consultants have portable skills. They can apply their functional and technical know how as well as other skills such as analysis, design and implementation not only in SAP, but in other areas of the organization; professions and software packages, such as assisting organization in training, improving and enhancing a business process, data conversions, training and developing special interfaces.

In demand:

  • According to most recent articles, and employment agencies, jobs in SAP consulting are high in demand. Most organizations with SAP as their business processing system, more likely to offer jobs to graduates with SAP know-how, as well as to a SAP functional and technical novice and expert.
  • The compensation for SAP consultants are ranked among the highest, with opportunities for job growth prospects, salary, quality of life and other benefits.
