Answer 1:

My name is Mike. I am a big baseball fan (GoWashington Nationals!) so thank you for your greatquestion "How much harder an aluminum bat wouldhit a ball compared to a wooden bat?"

Aluminum bats allow baseball player to hit theball farther and faster than with a wooden bat fora few different reasons. The first reason is thata player can swing an aluminum bat about 5 to 10miles per hour faster than a wooden bat.

The reason for this that the "balance point"of an aluminum bat is closer to the handle thanfor a wooden bat. The closer the balance point ofa bat is to the handle, the faster a player canswing the bat. Since the player can swing thealuminum bat faster, the ball will travel fartherwhen the player hits with an aluminum bat.

The second reason is that when an aluminum bathits a ball, the aluminum bat will very quicklybend and compress in response to the hard ball, and then very quickly the bat will spring back toits original shape. This compress-and-springmotion causes the ball to shoot off the bat fasterand travel farther than if it is hit with a woodbat. The motion is similar to jumping on atrampoline: when you land on a trampoline, thebottom of the trampoline bends against yourweight, and then springs you quickly back highinto the air. Wooden bats are too hard and denseto have this "trampoline motion."

And lastly, aluminum bats have a larger "sweetspot" than wooden bats do. The sweet spot is thearea of the bat that causes the ball to travel thefastest and farthest. Since aluminum bats havethis larger sweet spot, it is easier to hit ballsthat go farther and faster than it is with awooden bat. And finally, I have attached a websitethat further explains a lot of what I have said.Hope this answers your question!
