U of T Scholars Award

The U of T Scholars Program provides recognition to the University's outstanding students, at admission and on an on-going basis. In some cases a U of T Scholars award is tenable in conjunction with other admission awards that students may receive from their college/faculty.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship was established in 2000 after Bill and Melinda Gates gave the UK university the largest-ever single donation of its kind, in the amount of $210 million.

Description. The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to 300 of these student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.

A scholarship is at times a one-time payment. Other scholarship awards are renewable, they provide students with funds each academic year or semester for some years or the entire duration of study. Scholarships may be fully funded or partially funded which means they might cover all the cost or just a fraction of it.
